Volunteer Requirements and Sign Ups

  • Have a completed background check.
  • Chaperones must be able to lift at least 35 pounds unassisted and walk up and down stairs. If someone has back problems, it’s not advised they chaperone. There are plenty of other volunteer opportunities to help the Band. We want to keep our chaperones as safe as our students.
  • Chaperones must be a parent, grandparent or legal guardian of a student currently enrolled in the Band Program.
  • Children of chaperones may not ride the buses or sit with the band in the stands. This policy is in place to ensure that a chaperone has the freedom and ability to devote their full attention to taking care of the band students and fulfilling their volunteer duties.

The LISD district volunteer application can be found by clicking here.

Please note that chaperones will not ride on the buses for parades. You must provide your own transportation. We will be handing out water at the end of the parade route, so we still need help.

Please contact our volunteer coordinator if all the volunteer slots are filled for a game or event and a Senior parent not already on the list wishes to be on the list. In such a situation a senior parent can replace a person on the list by seniority. A Freshman parent would be removed first, followed by a Sophomore parent, then a Junior parent.
